time for a wardrobe clean up

I've been needing to do a clean out of my closet for awhile now. I'm running out of space and I already use an extra free-standing clothing rack. Even though my closet is overflowing I still struggle to find something to wear, so with the intention of soon filling the gaping holes that currently exist in my closet, I realised I needed to do a thorough clean up to create some space.

I really hate throwing things out though so I usually try to see if I can alter things to make them into something new. With that in mind, I began to delve into my closet to see what could be reinvented.

One of the things I found was an old pair of shorts (originally a pair of jeans before my last wardrobe clean up). I love distressed denim so I took the shorts and pretty much attacked them with scissors and a pumice stone. Here are the before and after shots:

Before.

After.
They probably look better on - I'll try to post a photo of them on soon.

It's super simple to do and completely changed up the look of the shorts, perfect for the summery days we're having at the moment!

One thing to remember though is that the denim will continue to wear so if you're going to cut holes in your shorts, just remember that they'll keep getting bigger the more you wear them. I'm currently experiencing this with the shorts in the above image - they are soo comfortable that I've worn them a fair bit in the last week and they are already beginning to show the wearing. I love it, but it's just something to keep in mind before you start!

More DIY posts to come as I continue to trawl through my closet.
