abbey lee kershaw for portmans

Portmans and Abbey Lee Kershaw have again joined forces, this time for the Portmans Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign. It has always seemed to be a perfect fit, an Australian favourite in retail and one of Australia's modelling sweethearts producing campaigns that combine affordable clothing with that high fashion chic Abbey Lee inevitably carries with her. I love Abbey Lee, she's one of my favourite models, but there's something that doesn't work in these shots. All the elements are good individually but combined, they fall flat.

Even so, they are still good shots.. Abbey Lee is flawless and I am totally LOVING the lace top / leather skirt combo in the second last image.. stunning! Have a look and see what you think.

matt corby - brother

A few weeks ago Matt Corby performed his single 'Brother' live for triple j as part of their weekly 'Like a Version'. It seriously gives me goosebumps every time I listen to it...  there's just so much emotion carried across in the song.

I absolutely loved this song the first time I heard it, which was well before I put two and two together and realised this Matt Corby was the Matt Corby from a past season of Australian Idol (at a time when l still occasionally tuned in).

The original recorded version is a lovely track but this live version, well, it's just something else. Have a listen for yourself - skip through to 1.25 minutes if you don't want to hear all the talking before it starts.

time for a wardrobe clean up

I've been needing to do a clean out of my closet for awhile now. I'm running out of space and I already use an extra free-standing clothing rack. Even though my closet is overflowing I still struggle to find something to wear, so with the intention of soon filling the gaping holes that currently exist in my closet, I realised I needed to do a thorough clean up to create some space.

I really hate throwing things out though so I usually try to see if I can alter things to make them into something new. With that in mind, I began to delve into my closet to see what could be reinvented.

One of the things I found was an old pair of shorts (originally a pair of jeans before my last wardrobe clean up). I love distressed denim so I took the shorts and pretty much attacked them with scissors and a pumice stone. Here are the before and after shots:

Before.

After.
They probably look better on - I'll try to post a photo of them on soon.

It's super simple to do and completely changed up the look of the shorts, perfect for the summery days we're having at the moment!

One thing to remember though is that the denim will continue to wear so if you're going to cut holes in your shorts, just remember that they'll keep getting bigger the more you wear them. I'm currently experiencing this with the shorts in the above image - they are soo comfortable that I've worn them a fair bit in the last week and they are already beginning to show the wearing. I love it, but it's just something to keep in mind before you start!

More DIY posts to come as I continue to trawl through my closet.

happy shooting

Recently I received a new camera lens for my birthday from my wonderful brother. Although I had been wanting a new one for awhile, I really wasn't expecting it so it was a lovely surprise! Hopefully it'll be the beginning of many more shots to come..

burberry ss2012

I have a MASSIVE soft spot for all things Burberry - I always love the way their campaigns are shot, their models always have this beautiful, innocent 'english-rose' feel to them and most of all, I always love the clothing - maybe more so because wearing some of it in Australia would be totally unnecessary almost all of the time.

The campaign was shot in London by Mario Testino and features Eddie Redmayne and Cara Delevingne, who looks unbelievably beautiful. I love that she can pull off blonde hair with dark eyebrows and make it look totally natural and chic.

stolen girlfriends club

Stolen Girlfriend's Club AW2012 collection 'Here Lies The Bones' has a street but fabulously chic feel, and I'm totally digging it. I think I say this a lot with the collections that I post but I seriously want every piece from this one. What's more, all of these pieces would fit seamlessly into my wardrobe so I can see myself wearing them already.

I'm a definite sucker for lace and sheer so of course the lace dresses and tops caught my eye but I'm even beginning to think about how I would work the long fur coat into my wardrobe... even with this humid Queensland weather. More pictures below.
